Opera House, Opera Bar and Sydney Harbour

On the weekends I love to get out and about in beautiful Sydney.  Yesterday was a perfect sunny day, not a cloud in sight so I took off to the city and did a short periscope of the Opera House, Opera Bar and surrounds.  Check it out if you want to see a glimpse of Sydney.  PS. Sorry it’s a bit shaky, also you can’t see the periscope text I get on my phone so you might wonder who I’m talking to!  Just a bit of fun!  Try out Periscope!

Great video, right in the heart of everything and Sydney looks incredible in the sunshine doesn’t it? We’re currently in Sydney as part of our little JWalking trip (https://jwalkingin.wordpress.com/) and loving it, spending a few days over in Manly at the moment and thoroughly enjoying it. Periscope looks pretty good too, may have a look at it.

Thanks, it’s not for everyone but luckily we both feel exactly the same way. So far we’re having the greatest time.

Just had a look at your blog and it’s so interesting. Need to read some more of it later. You have so many followers, any tips on how to get more?

Hi Jonno thank you. To be honest I don’t get time to write much and I’m not sure how I got all the followers as there are much better blogs out there with way more followers than me. I like poetry and sometimes I get the urge to write. I find my other poetry lovers or writers are loyal to each other so maybe that’s it. We try support each other’s work. Also it takes time to build up followers, it’s been a year since I started. It also requires time to read and like others blogs too.

It seems to be a real networking thing, getting to know other people via commenting. Didn’t know if you’d branched out to other sites to spread the word about your blog.

Well yes it’s important to link your blog to other social media such as Tumblr Facebook Twitter Instagram LinkedIn Stumbleupon Periscope Google etc

Well with each one someone might decide to read your blog so it’s all part of your marketing platform. You build followers with each one. You should have Instagram with your blog name in the title especially if you’re travelling and taking great pics people might want to know more. Periscope is owned by Twitter its global broadcasting the other day I did a 10min broadcast and I had 1250 people watching worldwide it’s crazy! So from that some looked at my periscope bio then went to my blog. My YouTube videos I sometimes do from periscope broadcasts like what you just watched.

I see what you mean. You must spend a fair amount of time keeping those sites up to date. Think I need to have a look at them and see what I can fit in. Sounds amazing having over 1000 people watching your broadcast. You’re a bigtime broadcaster!!!

Well I rigged my blog to automatically link to a few of them with each post. Instagram is just a fun thing, Twitter is linked to the blog also. So really I don’t spend much time. I also do freelance writing which is weekend notes on my blog that also brings people back to my blog.

Thanks it’s a simple theme and easy to use so far, though I’m thinking to upgrade to enable paid adds but I don’t think I get enough traffic as yet to bother. If I was a daily blogger maybe.
