A World of Beauty
If I waved a magic wand around
Over myself and me alone
I’d want a bed of duck down
A quilt of lambs wool sewn
In my yard Peacocks would flaunt
On my walk great lions would haunt
In the lake a school of fish would swim
The shining scales flashing silver fins
If I were to be a Queen you’d see
I’d summon trumpets to play for me
I’d feed the sick, give the poor my pay
Not turn my eye away from the frayed
In the evening my lamps would shine
Glowing lights for all the darkened lives
The sky would glitter flashing stars
To keep all safe from the harsh
A scented breeze would cleanse the air
We’d sleep a dream so sweet so long
Of hopes to fix all that was wrong
Morning sneaks across the sky
The cats run home the light arrived
A little bird puffs feathers smooth
Erupts its song for all to move
A red sun rises from a cold sea mist
A world of beauty surely does exist
Beautiful, as always

Thank you dear Miriam. I have started a new full time job and have little free time lately. This morning I felt the urge to write a poem. I’m so pleased you liked it. 🙂
