You can cut with your words

Slice me with your knife

Threaten with your presence

Bully with your orders

Shake me with threats

Dampen my mind with despair

But you won’t stop my soul

It lives and breathes within me

Taking note and growing stronger

Draws strength from adversity

Flows with my veins in rivulets

Of gold cleansing the pathways

Washing the tide of pain away

Memories held in vain

Some wont sway are here to stay

The dark buried so deep

Protective forces enable sleep

I am but a carriage the bark of a tree

A pretty picture or not is what you see

Coating my soul with layers to hold

For future stories yet to unfold

You can’t hurt me…
