Letters

Once upon a time we sent letters for a dime

Letters of joy from a girl to a boy

Soldiers pining for girlie sighing

Applications for situations

Young lover’s declarations

Letters of madness or of sadness

Words of Poetry or made up stories

Smart, intellectual or just plain boring

Letters of thanks to greedy banks

For giving you a loan to keep your home

Letters from Aunts that lived in France

Letters of gratitude in advance

Strokes on paper of every hue

Ink in black, red or blue

Filled with words rambling long

Some short and direct the spelling wrong

Scribbles or strokes, photos of folks

Now we perch upon a chair

Our eyes will squint from computer glare

One click away from the news of the day

A stupid joke, a facebook poke

The Postie dismayed at his day

His satchel slim letters so thin

Newspapers and flyers in the bin

Sometimes Oldies wave hello

Have a chat before he goes

Retrieve their post they treasure most

To sit and read a special letter

The thought the effort is always better
