A poem to my son that has flown the coup.

Trickle Free

james

My face but a mask is smiling at you

Did you see that small tear spill

Welling my sight as it trickled a path

From my crystal ball of what has been

It holds all the love and the images of you

From when you were born to what is now due

The power of need to protect you was strong

So unique you shined and could do no wrong

The moment you came into my life

Brought sunshine on the darkest days

Laughter when I lost my way

Your curls were silk made for touch

Your clearest eyes were honest with trust

I watched you learn and wander lost

Your challenges at first felt too much

Unsure of what was ahead of you

But knew you’d weather a storm or two

Inquisitive motions set you apart

Normalcy was not your chosen path

Tears are emotions we just cant contain

All the joy and some of it pain

Some of me and some of you

Is how it made you grow and bloom

Now I can only watch you go

My blue heart beating from afar

Wishing you a world of joy

You will always be my sweet boy

Love Mum

I’ll be experiencing this in 3 years. I’m not looking forward to it at all. 🙁

It’s quite a shock especially if you’re single the house becomes so quite lucky I have two dogs!

I can imagine. Especially as boys are noisy!

Yes! My son 6ft4 body builder was always very loud around the house but now a pin could drop except for barking dogs occasionally

Oh no, this is so sad! I don’t want my children to become adults and leave, but that is what we strive for anyway! Can’t we just stop time? Such a beautiful, angelic face, I can feel your pain xx

I’m so sorry, my two at nine and nearly twelve and I’m already mourning the loss of their childhood. How old is your son?

Parenting is so cruel, you hand over your heart to your children, forgetting yourself in everything, just so they can grow up and leave. Be kind to yourself and know you’ve done a wonderful job, you don’t want them at home unemployed and unhappy either. And yes, yay for dogs, my dad is all alone in a tiny apartment in Johannesburg and glad for his dogs keeping him company. Xx

I value your opinions, so let me know!
