Doughbox Diner
Since I was little I have always loved the 50s era. I spent many a Sunday afternoon as a kid watching old movies, often Elvis Presley or Marilyn Monroe movies. My own mother was and still is the spitting image of Elizabeth Taylor. The photo below is my mother at age 43 so you can imagine her even younger.
My mother also spent many hours perfecting her hair and makeup, emulating that bygone era of the 40s and 50s movie star glamour, especially when in her teens she would wear the poodle skirts, full wire petticoats and retro sash scarves. The women were so feminine and the lifestyle appeared so clean and wholesome. The 50s concept of going to the diner for a milkshake and dancing to the jukebox is so different to what we see today. So when I happened to fall upon this cool american style 50s diner in Sydney offering something a little different, I just had to do a review.
The diner from the land that time forgot! It’s outstanding. There’s a diner close to where I live, but it doesn’t have that neon/50’s vibe. You mom is beautiful!
