The Sydney Antiques and Vintage Fair

lal_suz_2

Once upon a time, they made things to last. The days when people admired the skilled craftsmanship and prized highly decorated goods.  I love furniture cabinets made with rosewood, with secondary woods used in the interior such as mahogany, poplar and white oak.  Antique handles detailed in brass and or tops  inlaid with brass, copper, pewter or mother of pearl.  You would find secret drawers and sometimes the whole piece could be separated into two separate pieces.  It wasn’t only in furniture but clothing, jewellery, all manner of things were well made to be appreciated and last.  I look forward to seeing what Australia has to offer in the second annual Antiques and Vintage Fair.  Although a young country, no doubt Antique lovers have travelled the globe gathering some interesting valuable items for sale.  If in Sydney, click here for more information on the event.
