Love Will Set You Free
When I descend into the darkness that engulfs me
It’s weight bleeding me of peace and joy
You continue to stand strong absorbing my test
My relentless quest to destroy
As my layers of pain leak through the cracks
Such bitterness envelopes me
My monster within rears its head and taunts
I’ll never set you free
A literal assault unleashes on you
Demands you take heed
You flinch but refuse to surrender
Still solid and sure as can be
Shards of bitterness continue to unfold
As my broken soul washes ashore
Yet you cradle me so I can see
You swear your love forever more
As your armour of empathy and love endures
The beast smirks with pity and withdraws
I take a deep breath I can believe
Love will finally set me free
I enjoyed this very much. Powerful stuff!
