Precious Plea
I loved you before you drew your first breath
The sight of you, your pudgy cheeks and soft silk skin
Made life complete a purpose to begin
The miracle of you so perfect so new
The years went by you grew so fast
Challenges came you learnt you passed
Then one day you got so busy
You left the coop in one big swoop
The world your oyster so much to see
So fascinating you couldn’t wait to leave
I felt the tears to see you go
I wondered if you would know
How much I love you how proud I am
Your adult life has now just begun
I hope you know I will always be there
As your rock if you feel down or like kicking the bin
I will be there for you to forgive your sins
If you get hurt and cry any tears
I will be there to fight your fears
If it feels like no one understands
I will be there to hold your hand
Some people you can’t replace
Your parents gave you your face
No need to hide it all within
I will love you through thick and thin
So don’t forget me give a little thought
Now and then a message or call
The days get shorter now that you’re gone
I watch from afar sending thoughts and love
Willing you onwards with invisible gloves
One day you too will feel the awe
To see uniqueness being born
Emotions stronger than any known
Will give you purpose you aren’t alone
My baby you will always be
I love you child
Don’t forget me
Lovely Wendy being a mum has its pain and its rewards…

I was a mess the day my kids went to their first day of school, I’m not looking forward to the day they leave the nest. A beautiful poem!

Yes it’s a real turning point when the kids leave home suddenly you have to live for yourself but that is life 🙂

Beautiful as always, captures the essence of a parent’s love for their child and wistfulness of their growing up and step into adulthood…I already feel it with Gabriel 🙂
Thanks for sharing 🙂
