Top 10 Handy Travel Apps

Top 10 Handy Travel Apps

To think centuries ago the early explorers and nomads only used the sun and the stars to guide them on their adventures of discovery.  Even up to 15-20 years ago we were using paper maps when travelling and booked our holidays mostly with a travel agent.  Now you can throw a dart on a world map and instantly start planning your dream holiday with the use of your smartphone and the internet.  There are loads of helpful travel apps that give quick solutions for planning and saving us time and money.

My Top 10 Handy Travel Apps to use when travelling:

Skyscanner:  Find the best flight route and ticket price to any destination.  Or try the app Kayak: exclusive mobile-only rates for flights, hotels, cars, packages.

Culture Trip: Put in your destination and find out all the great tips on the culture and things to see.

Rome2Rio: An easy app to assist you with the easiest way and choice of transport between two destinations.

Around Me: Find things you need in each location, such as ATMS, Banks, local restaurants, bars, supermarkets, pharmacies, movies.

TripIt:  Organizes your travel plans and store travel documents in one master Itinerary that is accessible on any device.

HotelTonight: A travel app that allows users to find discounted hotel accommodations throughout the Americas, Europe and Australia. Due to the last minute nature of the bookings, the app can offer deep discounts off the listed hotel rate.

Eatwith: Join dinner parties, find cooking classes, food tours and supper clubs in your destination.  Or become a host yourself and post an event.

Vayable: Find unique tours and experiences that are run by the locals.

Airbnb: Find a home in each destination and experience life like a local.  You can even book a boat home!

Bravolo:  After downloading and choosing the language, you won’t need the internet, just have it downloaded to use easily as an all in one language phrasebook.  Simple phrases like “Thank you, How much? Bring the bill, Where is? The app will play back a recorded answer in the accent and language of your location.
